  • What programmes are available?

    Cardiff University International Study Centre offers a choice of pathway programmes, depending on whether you want to study at undergraduate or postgraduate level. All pathway programmes lead to a range of degrees at Cardiff University.

    The International Foundation Year is your pathway to a range of undergraduate degrees at Cardiff University. It is a one-year course comprising tuition on English language, study skills, and subject-specific knowledge.

    The Pre-Master's programme prepares you for your chosen postgraduate degree at Cardiff University. You will study subject content as well as English, so that you can begin your degree programme with confidence.

  • Are programmes available online?

    Cardiff University International Study Centre’s programmes are not available online. You will need to live in the UK for the duration of your studies.

  • What are the entry requirements?

    You will need to meet English language and academic entry requirements to study at Cardiff University International Study Centre.

    You can enrol on one of our English language preparation programmes if you need to raise your English level before applying for a pathway programme.

  • What are the teaching methods?

    You will be encouraged to take an active part in seminars and tutorials, where you will discuss course content. This will prepare you for the style of learning you will experience at Cardiff University. Small class sizes mean you will receive individual attention from our experienced and supportive tutors.


  • How much does it cost to study at Cardiff University International Study Centre?

  • How much does accommodation cost?

    Accommodation fees vary, depending on the length of stay and which halls you are living in.


  • What accommodation is available?

  • When can I book accommodation?

    You can book accommodation once you have accepted your offer of a place and paid your confirmation payment.


  • Do I need a visa to study in the UK?

    You will need a Tier 4 (Student) visa to study in the UK. Find more information on the visa process.

  • How do I apply for a UK student visa?

    First, you need to apply for a programme at Cardiff University International Study Centre. When you receive an offer of a place, you should accept it by paying your deposit and Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) payment. Once you receive your CAS, you can then start the visa application process online.

  • When should I apply for a visa?

    You can apply for a UK visa up to three months before the start date of your programme. Make sure to start your application early, so there is enough time for it to be processed before you need to travel to the UK.
