Our first cohort of Cardiff University International Study Centre students were presented with awards and certificates at a recent end-of-year awards ceremony.

The International Study Centre team hosted the ceremony virtually for approximately 100 attendees including students, families and friends, tutors, support staff and guests from Cardiff University. The winners and two runners-up for each of the 21 award categories were announced at the ceremony, along with staff providing feedback on each of the students. The runner-ups received a certificate and the winners of each award received a certificate and glass trophy.

“It was brilliant to catch up with some students face-to-face at the International Study Centre and to present them with trophies following our online student awards event, I am incredibly proud of them all. Our award winners and runner-ups have been outstanding students and a credit to the International Study Centre. I am confident they will go onto work hard and gain more success at Cardiff University.”
Chris Hopper (Head of Centre).

Those students that were based in Cardiff had the opportunity to collect their award in person and be congratulated by the team. These include:

  • Pilar: September – Arts, Humanities, Law and Social Sciences Student of the Year
  • Zane: On campus Learner of the Year
  • Shereen: Student Ambassador of the Year
  • Lawrence: September – Health, Medical and Life Sciences Student of the Year

Lawrence is progressing to study Medicine at Cardiff in September and is the first student from Kuwait to be accepted by Cardiff University School of Medicine in the past 5 years. His family have been extremely impressed with the foundation programme at the International Study Centre and are pleased to be sending his sister to study at the International Study Centre next year.
