How to apply for your visa

To study at Cardiff University International Study Centre you will need a Student visa (formerly known as a Tier 4 visa). Applying for your visa can be done easily online through the UKVI Government visa portal. You will usually get a decision within 3 weeks, and they will tell you all the documents you need and whether you will be asked to attend a visa interview.

Before you apply for your Student visa, you will need to meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • You have been offered a place on a course 
  • You must have received a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies) from our Admissions team 
  • You can speak, read, write and understand English 
  • You have enough money to support yourself and pay for your course

Application process

  1. Receive an offer: Apply for a programme and receive an offer.
  2. Submit documents: Provide required documents for verification.
  3. Pay fees: Pay your deposit and CAS fee.
  4. Receive CAS: Your CAS will be issued, allowing you to apply for your visa.
  5. Apply for visa: Submit your visa application online.
  6. Attend credibility interview: If required, participate in a visa interview to verify your intentions.

Booking your accommodation

There are multiple accommodation options available to students. You can apply for accommodation directly through the University or you can arrange your own privately. If you choose to arrange your own accommodation, you must let us know where you are staying and that you are staying less than 60 minutes commute away from Cardiff University International Study Centre.

Your next steps for booking student accommodation:

  • Request accommodation when you apply for the International Study Centre.
  • Confirm your place at the International Study Centre.
  • The Central Student Support team will then contact you with information about the next steps you need to take to book your accommodation. If you applied directly through our online application form, your Student Enrolment Advisor will answer any questions you have about your accommodation options, the facilities offered and what you need to bring with you.
